Welcome Mel – Our New Local Community Adviser!

19th May 2025

We’re delighted to introduce the newest member of our team, Mel, who joins us as our Local Community Adviser, thanks to a generous grant from the Trussell Trust.

In this new role, Mel will be working alongside Llandrindod Foodbank to build and lead a team of local volunteers, developing and delivering community-led campaigning strategies. The goal? To organise and take action within our community to create meaningful, lasting change.

Mel will also act as the vital link between Llandrindod Foodbank and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team at the Trussell Trust. Together, they’ll be working to build a powerful grassroots movement to end the need for food banks in the UK.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of this mission, and even more excited to see what Mel and the community can achieve together.

Welcome to the team, Mel!

A message from Mel

I’m Mel and I work at Llandrindod Wells Foodbank as a Local Community Organiser.

I’m excited to take on this new role- as Community Organiser looking at the local drivers of poverty, through research and data but most importantly, through speaking to people with shared values who want to come together to take action. We will be identifying local issues and I’ll be looking for community leaders to make real change in our community.

People with lived and learned experience of hunger and hardship are the experts. That is why I’m looking for enthusiastic people who want to be part of a potential campaign. It maybe you have used a foodbank at some time in your life or had a time in your life when you didn’t have enough money to pay your bills, or it may just be that you want to see a more fair and just society. If any of these are applicable, or if you think there is anyone who may be interested, please contact me.

If we work collectively as a team, we have more power to challenge the issues that face us, together.

Everyone should be free from hunger and hardship –Llandrindod Wells Foodbank, provides practical support to local people who can’t afford the essentials, whilst working alongside other food banks in the Trussell network to build a future where everyone has enough money.

Please reach out using the contact details below if you would like more information and I will be happy to have a chat.
